ScanPay supports splitting commissions between multiple team members on a job — and each member can have a unique commission rule. This allows you to reflect differences in responsibility, role, or time spent on the job.
How commission splits work
When multiple members are assigned to a job, ScanPay uses the job split percentage to define how much of the job each team member is responsible for. Each member’s commission is then calculated using their individual commission rule:
Split % × Their individual commission rule
This allows you to assign more value to certain roles — for example, a manager who contributes to 50% of a job may earn more per dollar than a junior tech, even if both are present.
Example breakdown
Let’s say a job has:
- Invoice total: $100
- Line item total: $50
- Two members are assigned with a 50/50 split
Member A: 20% of invoice total
Member B: 50% of line item total
Here’s how the commission is calculated:
- Member A = 50% × (20% of $100) = 50% × $20 = $10
- Member B = 50% × (50% of $50) = 50% × $25 = $12.50
Even though both have equal job split, the total commission amount differs because each rule is based on a different base and rate.

Key points
- Splits are determined automatically when multiple team members are assigned to a job
- Each member can have a different commission rule (flat or % based on job total, invoice, or line items)
- Final commission = Split × Rule outcome
- This gives you complete flexibility in rewarding team members based on role, contribution, or tenure
- You can manually override the calculated commission at any point using the “Update commission” option on the job.
