With commission rules, you can automatically track how much your team gets paid based on the type of job. You can even set multiple rules per team member to specify exactly how much they earn for each job type. Commission rules let you automate payouts based on the job, lead source, or external company. You can create simple flat-rate rules or more complex percentage-based rules with custom conditions.
Note:To use Commission Rules, you must first turn on the “Field Serve” add-on for your teams.To learn more about the Field Serve add-on, please see this article.
How to create a new commission rule
- Start by going to your team Settings.
- On the Web App: On the lefthand navigation, select Settings.
- On the Mobile app: From the homepage, tap on the Menu icon at the top left. Then select Settings from the flyout.
- Under Accounting & Pay, open click on Commission rules

a. (Optional) Conditions: Set any conditions you would like to limit which jobs this commission rule will be triggered for. At this time, you can add conditions on External Company and Lead Source
- Note: Conditions can only be used when creating the rule on a desktop through the ScanPay web app.
b. Commission rate: Set a commission rate for this rule. You can set either a fixed ($) rate or a variable (%) rate on a commissionable base. e.g. 20% of Invoice total, 30% of Net margin, etc.
c. Assign team members: Use the search bar or click View all members to select who this rule applies to.
d. (Optional) Before saving, you can select View Example to see how this rule would work.

Making your rule more specific with Conditions
Conditions is a great way to narrow down on which jobs a commission rule is triggered. You can create a simple condition like "If Lead Source is Google" or you can create more advanced conditions by adding multiple rules together. Here are some advanced cases and how to set them up:
- If Lead Source IS NOT Google OR Thumbtack: Use the "is none of" option and add choose both "Google" and "Thumbtack.

- If External Company is X AND Lead Source is not Google or Thumbtack: Add two conditions in the rule. Both conditions have to be satisfied for the rule to be triggered

What Happens When You Create or Edit A Rule
- Already closed Jobs: The new rule is only considered for jobs that have not been marked as “Done” or closed.
- Automatically applied on open Jobs or new Jobs: The new or updated rule will be automatically considered for any open or new jobs.
- Manually customizing commission for a job (on web): When you have the permission to do so, You can manually override commissions on any job. Just go to the Job > Billing > Select “Update commission” in the Commissions section.
